meet your DERMATOLOGISTdr. Laura Scott, mD, FAAD
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Dr. Scott grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts and attended Smith College after being awarded a full-tuition scholarship; one student from the public school system in Springfield was awarded this honor each year. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and pre-medical studies after also completing a Howard Hughes Medical Institute research fellowship. She then earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in addition to a research fellowship in cutaneous immunology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Carney Hospital in Boston, followed by her dermatology advanced residency at the University of Miami Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery. There her extensive training included learning to diagnose and treat over 3000 skin, hair, and nail diseases and address cosmetic concerns, with a special focus in also being able to diagnose and treat in darker skin tones as well. After residency Dr. Scott accepted two positions in Miami - one at the University as the Associate Director of their Skin of Color Division, and the other in the design district as a cosmetic and clinical research dermatologist. Dr. Scott is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Scott relocated to San Diego after her husband (the other Dr. Scott) was recruited to lead the Ocular Oncology division at UCSD. She and her husband have 4 daughters and a belgian malinois who make life wonderfully full and just a little hectic. They wouldn’t have it any other way.
Dr. Scott also shares the behind the scenes of running a household, running a business, and remembering to give ourselves grace as often as needed on social media. She started her lifestyle blog as a medical student to keep herself accountable for living life during the hardest days of medical training, and has continued sharing content while becoming a wife, mother, and doctor, inspiring a generation of young women to pursue their career goals without sacrificing their dreams of a full life. She has served as an expert dermatologist consultant for national and international brands and has been featured as an expert dermatologist in numerous publications.
